Soil, leak and temperature sensors on a Wi-Fi gateway
Connect your Ecowitt sensors to an online dashboard
Ecowitt sensors report to a small Wi-Fi gateway (the GW1100, GW1200 or GW2000), and from there into Ecowitt's own app. That works fine until you own more than Ecowitt gear. SensorConsole puts your Ecowitt soil probes, leak detectors and temperature sensors on one online dashboard next to every other brand you use, with history charts and email alerts, viewable from any device.
What you can monitor
- Soil moisture probes (WH51 family)
- Water leak detectors (WH55)
- Extra temperature and humidity sensors (WN31 family)
- Soil and pool temperature probes
How to connect Ecowitt online
- Create a free SensorConsole account Sign up, then choose Connect a sensor from your dashboard.
- Choose how Ecowitt should send data The simplest route is the custom server option: pick the Wi-Fi station with a custom server option, and SensorConsole generates a Station ID and password for you. If you would rather use Ecowitt's cloud, pick Ecowitt instead and enter your application key, API key and gateway MAC address.
- Point your gateway at SensorConsole In the Ecowitt app (WS View Plus), open Weather Services, choose Customized and select the Wunderground protocol. Enter the server sensorconsole.com, the path /weatherstation/updateweatherstation.php? (keep the question mark), and the Station ID and password from your device page. A one to five minute upload interval works well.
- Add one device per sensor Each soil probe, leak sensor or temperature sensor is its own device in SensorConsole, identified by its channel number on the gateway.
- Check your first reading Open the device page. The latest reading appears within a few minutes, and charts fill in as history builds up.
Use cases
Track soil moisture across several beds and see which zone actually needs water.
A leak sensor next to a water heater or sump pump can warn you hours before real damage.
An extra temperature probe covers the spaces your thermostat never sees.
Questions about Ecowitt and SensorConsole
Can I monitor my Ecowitt sensors remotely?
Yes. Once your gateway is sending data, readings are available from any browser, anywhere. The gateway pushes data out, so there is no port forwarding, VPN or static IP to set up.
Do I need an Ecowitt weather station?
No. Individual sensors such as soil moisture probes and leak detectors work from a gateway alone. If you also run a full Ecowitt weather station, connect it at vweatherstation.com/pws, which is built for complete stations.
Is there a free online dashboard for Ecowitt sensors?
SensorConsole is free. You get history charts, email alerts if a sensor goes silent, and an optional public map.
Guides
How the data gets there
sensor → 433MHz radio → Wi-Fi gateway → pushed directly to SensorConsole (or polled from Ecowitt's cloud)
