A function node and an http request node

Send Node-RED sensor data to an online dashboard

Node-RED flows often collect sensor data from MQTT, serial ports, Zigbee bridges and APIs, then leave it stranded locally. Add two nodes at the end of a flow and the readings go to SensorConsole, where they are charted and available from anywhere.

How to connect Node-RED online

  1. Create a generic push device In SensorConsole, choose Connect a sensor, then DIY / generic push. Copy the token.
  2. Add a function node Paste the code below, replacing YOUR_TOKEN and the field name.
  3. Add an http request node Leave the method and URL unset in the node, because the function node sets them on the message.
  4. Deploy and check Trigger the flow once and look for the reading on the device page.
// Function node. Replace YOUR_TOKEN and the field name.
// Then wire it to an "http request" node with Method and URL left unset.

msg.url = "https://sensorconsole.com/ingest-generic-push.php?token=YOUR_TOKEN";
msg.method = "POST";
msg.headers = { "Content-Type": "application/json" };
msg.payload = { temp_c: msg.payload };
return msg;

YOUR_TOKEN is the device token shown on your device page after you create a generic push device.

Use cases

Bridge MQTT sensors online

Forward selected topics to a hosted dashboard.

Aggregate several sources

Combine readings in a flow and send one clean payload.

Questions about Node-RED and SensorConsole

How do I send Node-RED data to a website?

Format the payload in a function node and POST it with an http request node.

Can I send several values at once?

Yes. Each field in the payload becomes a reading.

Do I need MQTT?

No. Node-RED can send directly over HTTP.
